More people in the US were in hospitals with COVID-19 today than any previous day during the pandemic. It's the 12th day with more than 100K hospitalized with COVID-19.

Headlines 5 days before Election Day 2020

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are in Houston today. Another day of surges as the U.S. sets another singe-day record for new coronavirus cases, with more than 91,295 known infections, surpassing the previous record set last Friday. 500K weekly record this week as well for the U.S.. 

Here we are, just 5 days away from the Nov. 3 election and in the midst of another pandemic wave.

No thanks to the pandemic, Amazon is up 197% in profits bc of pandemic delivery. 

Yet many are still not wearing masks, saying hospitals are empty. Bozos aren't allowed to walk through ICUs.

Those three that were killed in a knifing at a church in Nice, France ~ one of the most romantic places on earth and folks are being killed in cold blood on an average day, for not reason. 

Europe is also surging in coronavirus cases. France, Spain, Germany, 

Walmart today, announced they've removed all guns and ammo rom displays in all its U.S. stores, 'aiming' to head off any possible theft of firearms is the stores get broken into amid (election) social unrest. 

So many companies folding due to the pandemic. Table menus will go too, thanks to the pandemic. Oooooh but they say don't wear a mask. I see so many restaurant patrons not wearing one.

In better news... the economy has surged at a record 33.1% - but still remains far below pre-pandemic levels. 

Layoffs remain high, but jobless claims dropped to 'only' 751,000. Don't get too excited. There will still be millions experiencing extreme poverty in the coming months. Expect to see more 'for sale' signs on your neighbors' homes... if you aren't posting one yourself.

Vehicle repossessions have also increased, and despite busy highway traffic, more in Harris County are not driving vehicles for one reason or another.  

The NAACP has filed a lawsuit over Trump's order banning diversity training.

And mail-in or don't mail in your ballot ~ VOTE either way. 

Halloween is this weekend, a full moon is expected to be lovely in Houston, great weather is expected. Cool enough to be warm in your costume. Not hot at all. 

We'll also have a full moon on Halloween, another rarity.

OH! Don't forget, an astroid is and isn't supposed to fly by Earth the day before Election Day. So wear a helmet if you get down. ~ And incase the meteor flies by Earth.

Moon to become space gas station

Our poor moon. Now the man in the moon is being put to work. 'The Dark Side of the Moon' will no longer be remember as just a hit album for Pink Floyd. NASA scientists today announced an earth-shattering discovery: there's quite a bit of frozen water on the sunless surface of the moon. In fact, according to two papers published Monday in the journal Nature Astronomy, the moon is littered with hidden patches. 

Once drained and used by us greedy humans, could it crack? Shatter? Knowing it will now be violated for its resources is truly sad. 

Now, the next steps: a rover will investigate 'water-rich' regions. There are also ambitions to send astronauts to establish a permanent base, which would be used as a layover on the way to Mars. 

The detection of water on the lunar surface also means there's potential for mining water-ice, which would then be broken into oxygen and hydrogen to produce rocket fuel. Basically, the moon would become a space gas station.

Texas tops list of scariest states

Just ahead of All Hallows Eve, Forbes has the Top 10 scariest states in the Union and Texas tops the list with haunted locations such as the Alamo and the Driskill hotel.  

California, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois round out the top five. Followed by Indiana, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, New York and Virginia.

Another officer was shot to death in Houston this morning 14 days before the election, 7 months into the pandemic

This is too much. 

HPD veteran Sgt. Harold Preston was killed during a domestic violence call today. 

Another officer, shot in the arm is expected to be alright.

Just yesterday, HPD announced a Houston anti crime initiative.

Friday morning, HFD arson detective Lemeul Bruce was shot to death while pursuing a potential arson suspect ~ here in the Heights. Near NW mall on 18th. A street I know well, and where I would not imagine this happening.

My dad used to take me to JC Park down the street from where that happened. That park was across the street from General Electric he worked as a machinist. 

To now link Bruce's death with this location, lace it into memory, is tough. This should not be happening. 

The pandemic is causing so much chaos in this now normal way of life. Not new. 

Wear your mask. Protect yourself and other people because the pandemic is not going away any time soon.

Texas is still seeing 50K cases a day. It should have only 10K at most say experts. 

A vaccine scientist warns that the next few months warns that the next four or five months could be "one of the darkest chapters in modern American history. Just get ready for it and remember that it will get better.

Yet that didn't make too many headlines. Today, FLOTUS still has a lingering cough from COVID-19.

TABC suspends 4 Houston bar, club liquor licenses for 30 days for not following pandemic protocol

You have to know that  bars and clubs are under constant surveillance during this pandemic. No masks, no service is the rule - the new normal. You can drop "new" from that by now. It's been 7 months. 

Now, the businesses issued an emergency order for a 30-day permit suspension are:

• Ampersand — Fort Worth (Bledsoe Street)
• Lux Lounge — Houston
• The Whippersnapper — Dallas
• The Standard — Houston
• Spire — Houston 

• Sol Billares — Houston

Good! These places shouldn't even be open. 

Also, violent crime is up 11% in Houston since the pandemic began. It's clearly driving so many mad after losing jobs, being cooped up and losing their homes. An increase in domestic violence is another terrible element increasing in Houston as well.

Getting me through Monday: Justin Bieber's "Lonely" and "Holy" SNL performances

Aside, I know, I know. "Justin Bieber?" Yes, and this is undeniably relatable... Other than "money and fame at an early age." But hey, goes to show, you an still be lonely during the best of times. During a pandemic, loneliness is a factor everyone has to deal with on some level. I encourage you to call a friend. Pray. Go outside. Mainly, fight to be happy. 

And I never thought of Beiber as gospel singer, but I really like this. I don't think of a person, I think of God when he sings, "the way you hold me." Hope this helps the start of your week as 40 million COVID-19 cases span the globe ~ with 29 states still reporting increasing. As 115M face the verge of extreme poverty this year. Also, after a teacher, Samuel Paty is beheaded in a terror attack near Paris. A place I've always dreamed of going, - until now.

Japan to discard 1.2M TONS of radioactive water from Fukushima disaster into ocean

 If you eat fish, I have some bad news for you. The Japanese government is planning to dump 1.2 million tons of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear disaster into the ocean.

The water has been kept in storage tanks since the 2011 disaster, which caused multiple meltdowns after the nuclear plant was hit by an earthquake and tsunami.  Tokyo Electric promised in 2018 to treat the water to remove radioactive particles.

The decision has met resistance from Japan’s fishing industry and likely won’t go over well with its neighbors like South Korea.

The President is literally holding the stimulus HOSTAGE. He won’t even talk about it, unless he WINS. God help us. This whole world is going up in flames, literally and figuratively. 

I do try to think of the good in the world. Puppies. That’s literally all the good in the world.

And also, enjoys many of the wonderfully lit homes with fun and creative Halloween decorations and scenes. Lighting and spook factor. It’s all pretty remarkable.

32 days before Election Day 2020 This is a fascinating time to be alive. Surreal.

Not fake news... or is it. Is this a political deterrent to draw sympathy. It’s wrong to wish him dead. He called it fake news for so long. Now we’re all watching him go through it. 

I expect conspiracy theories. I also expect the truth. The only truth will be if he actually survives or the alternative. At this hour he is fatigued. With a temperature heading to a militaryHospital to be monitored by doctors over the next few days.

Overnight, the president tweeted that he and the first lady have tested positive for COVID-19. At this point, debates are still scheduled. 

 

On top of that, the First Lady says what she really feels about Christmas to a former assistant who went on CNN with this.

Politics seems deadly.

Police killings.

COVID-19 Virus is deadlier. Testing wait times for 4 days.

You had the debate about protesting with or without a mask. Protesters fighting for a cause would be killed or kill others. Some hit and killed by cars. 

Domestic violence. An underlying threat to women beaten black and blue every day.

Take another hit and forget about it. The opioid addiction quietly goes undisturbed. 

To deaden the depression anxiety, homelessness and poverty multiply exponentially because of the dive in jobs and businesses. 

They day expect a wave of jobs acquired. 

When you ready police killings, did you think of the cop or the civilian? Which one died in your sceneario? ~ Yes. That too.

 It's rainy and flooded outside after Beto. 

Unpeachment = Un impeachment 

We could see 400,000 more deaths before year end. Only heart disease and cancer are claiming more lives.

At the threshold of an election. We're knocking on election door but not welcome. 

Police reform. To fund and defund.

Houston Police Will Fine $250 to People Not Wearing Masks

Houston is now at the point of #maskup or cough it up - as in $250 for not wearing a mask in the C-O-H.

Today, Mayor Sylvester Turner of Houston announced that anyone found NOT wearing a mask will be fined $250 by police. Now it doesn't mean that if you're not wearing a mask, you have to pay off the bat!

A warning will come first. If that idiot person doesn’t comply, then they'll be fined.
Mayor Turner also said, "lives are at stake so I'm taking this step to drive these numbers down."

August 3rd is day five for over 1,000 coronavirus cases in the City of Houston. However, the good news is that COVID-19 hospitalizations have dropped in Houston and the positivity rate is down to 17.6%. Still nearly 1 in 5 Houstonians when you look around you.
